Quick Wood Projects

Here are some of the quick wood projects we've been working on.

We tell lots of stories in our family as opposed to reading books in order for everyone to use their imagination as the story unfolds. Scott created these for me when we set up a scene with our silks and dolls to tell our stories.

These emotion eggs are fun to tell stories with or help your kiddo when he or she is having a hard time explaining how they are feeling. These are woodburned and beeswaxed.

I adore these tiny peg dolls. They are simple and plain which makes them fun to play with. These are woodburned and sealed with beeswax.

I created these weather dolls to add into our morning routine when we open the curtains and welcome in the world. We go through each weather choice in a song and then together decide what the weather is for the day and that guy gets to wear a rainbow hat that I needlefelted.

Our song goes:
 What's the weather?
What's the weather?
Like today.
Like today.
Look outside the window.
Look outside the window.
Can you say?
Can you say?

Is it sunny?
Is it sunny?
Sunny day.
Sunny day.
Go out in the sunshine.
Go out in the sunshine.
Play, play, play.
Play, play play.

Is it snowing?
Is it snowing?
Snowy day.
Snowy day.
Get your hat and mittens.
Get your hat and mittens.
Brr, brr, brr.
Brr, brr, brr.

Is it raining?
Is it raining?
Rainy day.
Rainy day.
Need your raincoat and boots.
Need your raincoat and boots.
It's all wet.
It's all wet.

Is it cloudy?
Is it cloudy?
Cloudy day.
Cloudy day.
Better get a sweater.
Better get a sweater.
If it's cold.
If it's cold.

Is it windy?
Is it windy?
Windy day.
Windy day.
Let's go fly a kite now.
Let's go fly a kite now.
Fly it high.
Fly it high.

And these are the wood gnomes that Scott has been diligently creating. This set, in particular will be transformed into Daddy, Momma and Baby.

Meet The Author

I’m Stephanie, the mind and Momma behind The Heirloom Family. I created this blog as a way to capture the magic of our family and the beauty of every day slow and simple living. I also hope it serves as an inspiration to you as well.

Nestled in our little corner of the Earth in Western New York, I am lucky enough to share my home with my husband and our daughter, along with 4 cheerful cats.

We strive for a wholesome life, one that is slow and steady. I want to breathe it in, this time we have, and I might just be lucky enough to see the magic in it all.

There are so many things in life that I love – nature. crochet. photography. gardening. cooking. faith. honey. reading. sunsets and sunrises. flowers. ballet. enchantment. Dave Matthews Band. the moon. rainbows. babywearing. lavender and sandalwood. celebrations. music. hippie. poetry. love. the forest. romantic history. cats. dreamcatchers. wool. heritage. family. lilac. red wine. memories.
