When Tessa was enrolled in a local gym class last January, they brought a swing like this into a class. Tessa was so enthralled with this magical piece of equipment and simply wasn't interested in any other activity that day. It was while Grammie-lina was here to visit during that time and she took a ton of pictures of the mechanics of the swing so Scott could build one for our family instead of dishing out $250.
He put so much time and effort into this and was stoked with the outcome. Our neighbor friend Nate came over and he and Tess tried it out together. The giggles, the smiles, the belly laughs - Scott said that was all he needed to make it worth the work.
It's such a simple idea if you'd like to build one for your family but the joy it brings is immeasurable.
You can stand on it.
Swing on it.
Sit on it.
Kneel on it.
Push it.
Go alone.
Ride together.
Oh yeah. You can fall from it too.
Now, Tess and I spend many afternoons out there swaying together out there with our favorite tunes, "...swing high...swing low..." and "...swing and sway, swing and sway, swing and sway with Patty-cake...".
And shhh, I'm not sure who likes it more - me or Tessa. I actually loved it so much and it brought on so much nostalgia that Scott also built another basic rope and disc swing for me. It was kind of an ode to the old family swing that was destroyed when my Dad's tree fell (hence, our jumping logs).
