Moving Concrete in December

What a better time to pull up huge concrete slabs then when it's December and the ground is already frozen, right?

We have big, big plans for this backyard of ours and for starters, we needed to move these poured concrete pavers. We had a beautiful day by surprise so Scott took advantage of it and started. It felt kind of like the "shovel in the ground" ceremonies, it symbolized our commitment to get this backyard wild.

We needed to move them for two reasons. First, there was a tiny patch of soil we used for garlic growing but it was never enough space. Second, the pavers weren't a natural walking line to the garden gate; they cut too close to the house.

Scott got a pair of Bogs from my Momma for Christmas and man, is he thrilled with them. He says they are the best pair of boots he's worn to get his feet dry and warm.

The very last of our harvested garlic that was oh-so-yummy. It was hard to break those cloves up for the ground instead of cooking them but I knew it was the only way to get even more garlic.

After discussing it back and forth, we decided this was best layout to begin the walking paths we hope to create.

Meet The Author

I’m Stephanie, the mind and Momma behind The Heirloom Family. I created this blog as a way to capture the magic of our family and the beauty of every day slow and simple living. I also hope it serves as an inspiration to you as well.

Nestled in our little corner of the Earth in Western New York, I am lucky enough to share my home with my husband and our daughter, along with 4 cheerful cats.

We strive for a wholesome life, one that is slow and steady. I want to breathe it in, this time we have, and I might just be lucky enough to see the magic in it all.

There are so many things in life that I love – nature. crochet. photography. gardening. cooking. faith. honey. reading. sunsets and sunrises. flowers. ballet. enchantment.
