May Day at The Heron

:::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

My dream place.
The Heron is a place and community that fits our family in so many ways. They are all about celebration, good food and happy living. As their website says:
"The Heron is a retreat center & farm where people come to feel fully alive in the great outdoors, gather to learn new ways of enjoying life & find nourishment for the body from organically raised foods."

They were hosting a May Day festival so Tessa, Lorelei and I went to hang out for the day.

We needed some fresh flowers for our flower headbands so the girls were off, collecting what we needed.

Seriously doesn't get any better.

Then I had to share this picture because it is one of my favorite new skirts.
It has pick-ups and linen - see, it's perfect.

This place is filled with beauty - whether the land or what they created, it's a place to be yourself.

Gnomes and fairies were everywhere to be found.

Some banjo and bluegrass were exactly what my ears needed to hear.

With so.many.people. the May pole was a bit challenging in traditional terms but still, I loved it.

This is a place for families and community and that's why I love it.

They even had a can for compost - I dig it!

I’m Stephanie, the mind and Momma behind The Heirloom Family. I created this blog as a way to capture the magic of our family and the beauty of every day slow and simple living. I also hope it serves as an inspiration to you as well.

Nestled in our little corner of the Earth in Western New York, I am lucky enough to share my home with my husband and our daughter, along with 4 cheerful cats.

We strive for a wholesome life, one that is slow and steady. I want to breathe it in, this time we have, and I might just be lucky enough to see the magic in it all.

There are so many things in life that I love – nature. crochet. photography. gardening. cooking. faith. honey. reading. sunsets and sunrises. flowers. ballet. enchantment. Dave Matthews Band. the moon. rainbows. babywearing. lavender and sandalwood. celebrations. music. hippie. poetry. love. the forest. romantic history. cats. dreamcatchers. wool. heritage. family. lilac. red wine. memories.
