The Polar Vortex

Western New Yorkers are infamous for being able to handle pretty much any weather you throw at them.  Blizzard of '77, October Surprise, the list goes on and on.

Oddly enough, though, we truly haven't had that much outrageous weather in the most recent years. That is, until the Polar Vortex showed up.

It wasn't much snow but it was intense, bitterly cold and extremely windy. This was one of the few days we had ZERO outside time but we couldn't help but jump on the porch for a few seconds to experience the power of this storm to remember.

And just a side note, Tessa really was laughing here in this picture although it looks like a sad face. And we were outside for less than 30 seconds.

It honestly felt like we were in a snow globe.

We knew it really was one heck of  storm when neighbors came to help with heavy equipment in order to clear our driveway.

And what would a storm be without a car not starting. This is the City of Good Neighbors and that resounded today especially!

After being cooped up all day in our pajamas, someone short and sweet wanted to peek back outside again. It really was too neat not to!

Man, this storm was a whopper!

I’m Stephanie, the mind and Momma behind The Heirloom Family. I created this blog as a way to capture the magic of our family and the beauty of every day slow and simple living. I also hope it serves as an inspiration to you as well.

Nestled in our little corner of the Earth in Western New York, I am lucky enough to share my home with my husband and our daughter, along with 4 cheerful cats.

We strive for a wholesome life, one that is slow and steady. I want to breathe it in, this time we have, and I might just be lucky enough to see the magic in it all.

There are so many things in life that I love – nature. crochet. photography. gardening. cooking. faith. honey. reading. sunsets and sunrises. flowers. ballet. enchantment.
