Scott and I had an impromptu date night yesterday after Tessa had fallen asleep after a busy day of play.
We shared a drink on the porch and headed to the yard after dark to sit in the quiet.
After talking about what was growing in the garden, what was not, what needed some TLC and what was climbing on the trellises in the cool of the night, he asked if I wanted to go for a swing.
So we parked it on the platform swing, just talking and enjoying our drink, while out of the corner of my eye I caught a flash of light. And then another. And another.
It's been years since I last saw a lightning bug at Daddy's farm and here they were in our own backyard.
I was so happy to have them back because I know their population is struggling like the Monarchs and honeybees.
Cool night indeed.
