First Berry Harvest

This was the very first year of berries for our family and boy, were we rewarded. We picked up a red raspberry bush along with a blueberry bush and crossed our fingers we'd actually get fruit.

The first year is generally made for the root system to develop so you're lucky to get any fruit but we did. It was super sweet and sun-soaked!

I won the thrift shop lottery when I spotted this beautiful woven basket that we use to harvest. It had a little handle on the top so I think it was more of a platter cover but it's the perfect place to throw berries, lettuce and tomatoes.

Tessa is probably the best berry picker you'd ever meet. She finds them all, even the unripe ones.

Maggie was on the search for her own veggies, or more likely, a grasshopper to watch.

We got a fair amount of berries this first go-around although not many made it to the kitchen.

The beauty of homegrown fruit just makes me smile.

Such a summer blessing!

I’m Stephanie, the mind and Momma behind The Heirloom Family. I created this blog as a way to capture the magic of our family and the beauty of every day slow and simple living. I also hope it serves as an inspiration to you as well.

Nestled in our little corner of the Earth in Western New York, I am lucky enough to share my home with my husband and our daughter, along with 4 cheerful cats.

We strive for a wholesome life, one that is slow and steady. I want to breathe it in, this time we have, and I might just be lucky enough to see the magic in it all.
