Maple Festival

The tress are flowing with sap!
About an hour away, there was a Maple Festival that I had no idea about until Tessa's teacher made mention of it last week.

Sadly, Scott had to work so us two girls made a road trip out of it and we had a great time.
Only problem was that I didn't have enough hands to take photographs of such a beautiful celebration.

Held at a county nature center, they served a very yummy breakfast, of course spotlighting maple syrup harvested there.

And my sweet girl took this candid shot of me.
Nice job kiddo!

The interior nature conservancy had this awesome kids section that Tessa seemed to enjoy.

She planted a chia flower pot to take home.

And even got a beloved face painting.
She chose to get a spider on her cheek after having just met and touched a rehabilitated snake.
Rock on girlfriend!

Then we headed outside where the smell of winter fire permeated the snow covered earth.
They demonstrated primative sap reduction methods, we tried our hand at hand drilling a tap in a tree and even tasted freshly flowing sap - but we have no proof.

I'm just lucky we survived the trip in one piece!
As fun as it was, we're exhausted!

I’m Stephanie, the mind and Momma behind The Heirloom Family. I created this blog as a way to capture the magic of our family and the beauty of every day slow and simple living. I also hope it serves as an inspiration to you as well.

Nestled in our little corner of the Earth in Western New York, I am lucky enough to share my home with my husband and our daughter, along with 4 cheerful cats.

We strive for a wholesome life, one that is slow and steady. I want to breathe it in, this time we have, and I might just be lucky enough to see the magic in it all.

There are so many things in life that I love – nature. crochet. photography. gardening. cooking. faith. honey. reading. sunsets and sunrises. flowers. ballet. enchantment.
