First Big Girl Haircut

As you can see, Tessa has quite the idea about hair. She likes talking about her curls and showing Daddy where he's lacking.

This sweet face went to the salon today with me to get her first-ever big girl hair cut. It was crazy to me that this was such an emotional time for me but I suppose it's just that it suggests change and time. My sweet girl is getting older each day and with every passing moment she shows me that I need her like the tides need the moon.

These were her before shots.

She took the whole experience quite seriously, as she should since someone was messing with her bountiful curls. Yet, she could't help but let a smile peek through.

What a big girl she is, I tell ya.

My friend from high school is a wonderful hair stylist so I knew I had to bring Tessa to her when it came time.

She even put up with my constant picture-taking and hair collecting.

I just couldn't help but smile.

After a trim, some whispy bangs and princess sparkles in her hair, she magically transformed from an almost three year old to a five year old.

These small moments are big moments. I cherish them.

Meet The Author

I’m Stephanie, the mind and Momma behind The Heirloom Family. I created this blog as a way to capture the magic of our family and the beauty of every day slow and simple living. I also hope it serves as an inspiration to you as well.

Nestled in our little corner of the Earth in Western New York, I am lucky enough to share my home with my husband and our daughter, along with 4 cheerful cats.

We strive for a wholesome life, one that is slow and steady. I want to breathe it in, this time we have, and I might just be lucky enough to see the magic in it all.

There are so many things in life that I love – nature. crochet. photography. gardening. cooking. faith. honey. reading. sunsets and sunrises. flowers. ballet. enchantment. Dave Matthews Band. the moon. rainbows. babywearing. lavender and sandalwood. celebrations. music. hippie. poetry. love. the forest. romantic history. cats. dreamcatchers. wool. heritage. family. lilac. red wine. memories.
