Our garden bed is ridiculously rocky. We're not happy about it, but that's what it is. Those pesky rocks don't stop the weeds from creeping up either.
We purchase two bales of straw from a local feed shop to use as a type of weed-block around our precious seedlings.
Those two bales gets us just enough coverage for our size garden.
Besides keeping weeds at bay and helping the soil retain some moisture, I like the way it looks. And even better, it can be tilled right into the soil next year.
Scott is incredibly passionate about our vegetable garden. He likes to work on it but no one really likes to pull weeds for hours.
Grow heirloom tomatoes! Grow!
So much better, right?
